Transcending Duality - Letting go of Fear
by Simon Prone

The illusion of separation and the all pervading fear that we live with, are the two main factors that are keeping us from realising that we are all truly one.

This non fiction book describes the true nature of reality, how fear Has become part of who we are, without us even realising it, and how we can take steps through simple realisations to release this fear and step into the power of who we truly are.

Playful Revelations
by Simon Prone

My first upcoming fictional book!  About a man who has reached all he had been hoping for since childhood and is now wondering if there is anything more.  His childhood friend pops up and, after scaring him half to death, begins answering his questions.

A multidimensional tale involving dreamscapes, unseen guides and the promise of romance.  But will he realise  what is happening in time?  And will his sense of cynicism help or hinder him on his journey?

The Living Gita
by Sri Swami Satchidananda

There are many commentaries on the Gita, and many "...ananda's" so be careful you are getting the right one (probably easiest by following the link to the right).

This is a beautiful book that really was a joy to read.  So simple, profound and really full of beauty, which was refreshing to find in a book.  It outlines the philosophy of this small part of Vedic philosophy, and does it simply and accessibly.

Put another way, if this book is not for your liking, then the other books in this section are probably not your bag either.

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
by Sri Swami Satchidananda

If you liked "Living Gita" and are hungry for more, specifically in the direction of a yoga practice, then this book is for you.

You may or may not know that there are 8 limbs of yoga, and the postures that we commonly identify with yoga are just one of these 8 limbs.

Anyway, Satchdananda explains all of this far more eloquently, and outlines the full 8 limbs of yoga as a path to self realisation. And does so simply and succinctly.

Light on Pranayama
by B.K.S. Iyengar

This is a great book to instruct you the art of pranayama, another one of the 8 limbs of yoga.  Iyengar has also written "A Light on Yoga" considered a classic on the topic, particularly the postures, but I have not read it yet, and so it is not listed here (yet).

This book contains all the pranayama techniques you could ever wish to practice, and goes into quite advanced techniques that will challenge you (and possibly harm you) if you try them before you are ready.

A text you will continually refer to if you undertake a pranayama practice, as some of the techniques towards the back of the book should only be tried after years of practice.

I Am That
by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

This book is written by the most enlightened person I have ever come across.  Nisargdatta realised enlightenment in only 3 or 4 years after meeting his guru and surrendering to him completely.  Even though his guru died soon after they met, Nisrgadatta kept on pursuing the teachings, and realised full enlightenment.

Nisagadatta discusses what we are, and more often what we are not - the experience of reality being beyond the grasp of our actual minds, it is something we need to realise was there all along by disregarding all that we think is real.  Anyhoo, he says it much better...

This is definitely a dense book, full of enlightening discourses and not much else.  I am still reading it, and have read about 3 or 4 other books since I started  it.  But then again, part of me doesn't want to finish with it as a source of wisdom.

Integral Yoga Hatha
by Yogiraj Sri SwamiSatchidananda

This is Satchdandas presentation of the asana or posture limb of yoga.  It contains the minimum number of postures (compared to Iyengar's book on the same topic) that he says, if used, will maintain perfect health in the body.

If you are looking for a book on yoga postures that contains the essentials, and not a book that seems to be concerned with postures for postures sake, then this is it.

Yoga Articles
by Yogi-E

OK, so this is not a book, but his website says there is one coming "soon."

These articles are a fantastic source of clear insights into spiritual development, yoga practice and practical yogic philosophy.  Yogi-E is a yoga teacher who teaches throughout the US, and obviously practices what he writes - his writing would not be this clear if he didn't.
